Zoom users can get company Rs 1874, just this condition has to be fulfilled

Zoom users can get up to $25 (about Rs 1874) from the company in a class-action lawsuit over safety issues. The popularity of the video conferencing app skyrocketed in the time of Covid. It is still one of the most used video conferencing tools. However, Zoom has reportedly compromised the safety and privacy of its users. The company was accused of sharing personal information of users with third parties.

Although Zoom has denied the allegations, it has agreed to settle the action and pay $85 million to improve its privacy and safety policies. Zoom has agreed to compensate users whose personal information has been tampered with. The company will pay users up to $25 as claim settlement.

However, not all users are eligible to get money from the company. If you're a paid subscriber to the Zoom Meeting app and paid for the app between March 2016 and July 2021, you can file a claim for $25 or get 15 percent of what you paid for. The second group of users eligible for claim settlement amount are those who have registered, used, opened or downloaded the Zoom Meeting app between March 30, 2016 and July 30, 2021.

What do I have to do to get the claim?

You have to make a claim to get cash payment. To claim, you need to fill and submit a claim form. Forms can be submitted online at www.ZoomMeetingsClassAction.com or by mail. It is important to note that the deadline for this is March 5, 2022. So you have to claim before this date to get money from the company.

Claim information given to users through email

According to Vice, the group that sued Zoom for allegedly sharing users' personal information sent emails to Zoom users telling them about the claim and how they could get the money.

The email said, “If you are a member of a group that paid for a Zoom Meetings app subscription between March 30, 2016 and July 30, 2021, you may have made a payment to Zoom for an original subscription. Are eligible to file a claim for $25 or 15% of the money spent. For example, if you spent $75 on a Zoom Meeting app subscription during the specified time, 15 percent of $75 is $11.25. Because $11.25 is less than $25, your claim will be treated as a $25 claim."
