Top Motorcycle Brand in November: Bajaj Auto has become the best selling motorcycle brand in India in November with both domestic and export numbers. The Pune-based motorcycle major registered 338,473 units last month, down 12 per cent from its own sales performance in November 2020, when it sold 384,993 units. Hero MotoCorp, which has held the pole position for a long time in the two wheeler market, has sold 329,185 motorcycles including both domestic and export numbers last month.

Hero MotoCorp reported a decline of 39 per cent in overall motorcycle sales in November 2021 as compared to 541,437 units in the same month last year.

November 2021 was one of the rare occasions when Bajaj Auto was able to beat Hero MotoCorp in overall motorcycle sales. However, Hero MotoCorp continued to top the two-wheeler table with both its motorcycle and scooter sales combined. While Bajaj Auto sold 338,473 units in the domestic and international markets, Hero MotoCorp sold a total of 349,393 two wheelers in the domestic and international markets.

Bajaj Auto saw more than half of its motorcycle sales come from international markets, despite registering a decline of two per cent in its export numbers. It shipped 193,520 motorcycles to overseas markets and registered 144,953 units in the domestic market.

Among its international markets in Latin America and Africa, the domestic motorcycle Chief has recorded the highest sales numbers. Bajaj Auto currently sells its motorcycles in around 70 countries across the world. Hero MotoCorp, on the other hand, specializes in the lower displacement motorcycle segment.

This affected Hero MotoCorp's sales in rural areas, where the company has a strong consumer base. Slowdown in the entry-level commuter bike segment and increased consumer preference towards higher-end models was also a contributing factor against Hero MotoCorp.
