Apple is alerting iPhone users, whether there is this malware in your phone, check this way

Apple Alert iPhone Users: Earlier this week, Apple filed suit against NSO Group, the developer of Pegasus Software. The software has also been sued by different tech companies and human rights groups for improperly using spyware. Apple has now started sending notifications to iPhone users on whose phones the software was targeted. The company has started sending alerts to users in Thailand, El Salvador and Uganda.

According to a report in TechCrunch, about six Thai activists who were victims of spyware have already received the notification. Some users in El Salvador have also reportedly received notifications. Norbert Mao, the president of the Democratic Party in Uganda, has also highlighted one such notification. The alert states that “You are being targeted by state sponsor attackers who are trying to take control of your iPhone with your Apple ID”.

According to Apple Alert, “These attackers are potentially targeting you personally because of who you are or what you do. If your device is tampered with by a state sponsored attacker, they can access your personal data, communications, or even your camera and microphone. While it is possible that this is not an accurate alert, please take this warning seriously”.

Apple filed a lawsuit against the NSO Group, seeking a permanent order prohibiting the Israeli company from using any Apple software, services or devices.

The NSO Group is owned by Microsoft Corp, Meta Platforms Inc, Alphabet Inc and Cisco Systems Inc. It is also facing legal action or criticism. NSO, in its defence, claims that it only sells its devices to governments and law enforcement agencies and that security measures are in place to prevent its misuse. The company claims that "thousands of lives" have been saved by the use of its tools.
